Mugged by The Barracudas
Another week, another chapter in the Petty Theft Row saga. And this one stings just a little bit. Saturday saw the Row drop an 11-9 decision to @The Barracudas. We fought, sure, but fell short. The bats were alive, no doubt. Nine runs is nothing to sneeze at. But it wasn't enough to overcome whatever the Barracudas were cooking.
The scoring efficiency that propelled the Row to a split on opening day seems to have... regressed. The bats still have some pop, but the pitching...? It's hard to say what happened, but the final score suggests it wasn't pretty. Giving up eleven runs is a tough pill to swallow, no matter the opponent. Petty Theft Row now sit at 1-2.
Elsewhere in the league, @The Warriors continue their reign of terror, demolishing @Owen in a 16-6 beatdown. That moves them to a sparkling 5-0. Someone needs to stop them. Maybe us? @Fattened Calves, after a hot start, stumbled against @The Lobsters, dropping a 7-5 contest, though the Calves did manage to grab an 11-5 victory against @The Dirty Water Dawgs. The Lobsters kept the good times rolling. They defeated @Owen by a score of 6-1. @The Hit List took down [FORFEITED] 9-6. And rounding out the league, @Free Agent Team 2 also defeated [FORFEITED] by a score of 7-6.
The standings are starting to take shape. @The Warriors sit atop the pile at 5-0. @Fattened Calves are in second at 4-1 despite the loss to @The Lobsters. @The Lobsters are undefeated at 2-0. The Row currently sits in ninth place with a 1-2 record; tied along with @Free Agent Team 2. The team needs a turnaround to get back in the hunt.
A critical matchup looms next week against @Free Agent Team 2. With both squads sporting identical records, consider this a showdown for mid-table supremacy. Petty Theft Row showed signs of offensive volatility, hanging eleven runs in both games of opening day against @The Traffic and @The Reservoir Dogs. More of that, please.
